The Lucienne Collection is named after the textile designer Lucienne Day whose work in the 1950s influenced a wide area of design. Her textile ‘Calyx’ was created for the Festival of Britain in 1951 and is still much admired today. She explored many design sources, but my Lucienne Day favourites, such as Calyx, are from the natural world. My own designs feature a nod to cow parsley, marsh grass, vine tendrils and country landscapes.

Fiona is a handmade vase in matt black stoneware ceramic with bands of colours in pastel shades as decorative additions fired into the clay. Each of my vases is different, and I use what is known as the sgraffito technique to make further carved marks through the colour while the clay is soft. Fiona has motifs of cow parsley seed heads on a pale turquoise background and bands of lemon and buff with vertical lines. I glaze the interior so that Fiona can be used as a vase to show off your favourite dried or fresh flowers, but the piece can stand alone or with others from the Lucienne Collection as attractive groupings.(My images show how these groupings can look) On the base is my potter's mark of a swallow in flight. Fiona is a soft rectangular shape 15.5 cms cms high and 16 cms around the rectangular base.
