The collection is the result of a long period of experimentation with black stoneware clay. My aim is to create pieces that reflect the inherent qualities of the clay itself, and to form and decorate using the minimum of tools, so that the finished piece can reflect the material and the maker.
While there are recurring shapes, motifs and colours in my work, each piece is entirely unique in its form and decoration. Pieces bear my maker’s mark of a swallow impressed into the base.

Full description
The lines, dots and stripes of the design on this abstract ceramic piece (called Jenna) are in shades of sage green, lemon and grey, contrasting with the matt black stoneware clay background. The front features a central panel of green, with twining lines revealing the black clay beneath, set off by pale yellow stripes and a series of dots. The design continues around the back of the piece so that the form is interesting whichever way you view it! Jenna can stand alone as a piece of sculptural ceramic, or can form a ‘family group’ with other pieces from the Kindred collection (see images). Kindred pieces can also form a quiet focal point for meditative practices such as yoga or mindfulness. Jenna is 17.5 cms high and 6.5 cms at the widest part of the oval base.
