Full description

This attention grabbing necklace features a large piece of fordite (aka detroit agate) with an eye catching pattern of concentric rings in some vibrant colours. The centre is sparkly red and blue with bands of white, sparkly grey and gecko green towards the outside. The fordite is bezel set in an open back sterling silver setting so the pattern on the back can be seen however the back is predominately dark green and red. The fordite is suspended within a 20in chain with a 2 in extender.

What is fordite you ask? It is layer upon layer of paint that built up in the spray booths at car plants, the paint over spray would land on the rails that allowed the workers to slide the car panels into the curing ovens and this would build up eventually becoming fordite. This particular material came from the Jeep factory in 2021 (the bright gecko green dates it to a specific year) where fordite forms in the rear window openings of the hard tops which can't be painted using the electro spray technique that most cars are painted using. The necklace is resting on the rough in one of the photos - the rough isn't included in the sale. Love the idea of fordite but want something different - drop me a message, I have plenty more rough from a range of factories and eras.

Measures 20 in with 2 in extender, the fordite is 1 3/4 in by bit over 1 in and it will come in a gift box.
