An egg cabinet is such an attractive way to store eggs and such a box simply must have a chicken and cockerel on it!
I loved the colours and upright/proud stance of this particular rooster and thought he would look very much in charge of the eggs in the box.

Full description
I decorated this lovely egg box with paint washes to add to the rustic and shabby chic look and to purposefully highlight the nail holes and imperfections in the wood so that it looks aged.
I then added a proud rooster on the top and left hand side and a chicken on the right hand side. (I also 'hid' a tiny pair of rooster and chicken on the back of the box). I then varnished for protection.
The box holds a dozen eggs and measures 6.75" wide x 4.75" deep x 7.5" high (17 x 12 x 19 cms).
This is an unusual box and would look good in either a country kitchen or a modern one.
