I live just outside Glastonbury in Somerset with my husband Andrew, who makes drums from re purposed wood with history.
After a busy (and stressful!) life as a wedding caterer, I have made a slower work/lifestyle choice now, as a potter.
I have a small shed/shop which is open on the first Saturday of each month with a variety of other guest makers. (BA6 8RH)
I am also part of an artists collective, Somerset Crafts, we sell in the Avalon Marshes Centre Gallery, Shapwick, Somerset BA6 9TT.
I have always had the urge to make things myself rather than buying and am incredibly lucky to be making pottery full time now in a small studio at home, where we can control the resources we use.
The beauty of ceramics is there is so little wastage, being a natural product, all clay scraps and unwanted glaze drips can be re purposed.
There is a great ceramics store locally where I can get most things I need for the making process.
As a family we embrace the challenges of a more sustainable lifestyle and how we can make small differences ourselves, for the environment, using as few resources as possible.
I would like my pottery to make the user smile if nothing else and it is made to be functional on a daily basis for the kitchen and table. Usually made from white stoneware clay, thrown on the wheel, with food and dishwasher safe glazes.
My main inspiration is found in the natural contrasting colours and textures all around us in our everyday landscape.
For me, colour and form, rather like music, can really lift the mood.
Please feel free to contact me for commissions.

We love our butter dish. Beautifully made. Exactly the right size - not too big - and with an excellent positive handle.
