Hand Engraved glassware and slate with Nature and Art Deco inspired designs, bringing new love to everyday second hand and vintage items.

Ever since I can remember, arts and crafts have been a huge part of my life and my spare time, drawing, painting, sewing, embroidery and just making things from random stashed materials and objects kept ‘just in case’! Having studied Art at A level and then at University, it then became just various hobbies played with over the years rather than full time work, however looking to develop my creative muscles more fervently I discovered the beauty of glass engraving and loved how it brought my sketches to life on objects at home.

I live in a village in West Wales with my husband (a photographer and gramophone enthusiast), my daughter (who has inherited the creative bug) and two sister cats Sylvie and Savannah who couldn’t be more different and are a fine source of entertainment. I’ve had a lifelong interest in preserving the environment, and in my student days was very much an eco warrior, but years on I’m always looking for new ways to support environmental initiatives and recycle or repurpose existing objects, when it struck me that there was a lot of unloved and undesirable plain glassware on the shelves of every charity shop I went in, and so having already decorated plain objects at home for myself, the idea of giving a second chance to these discarded items and finding them a new lease of life became a passion that could feed my creative instinct at the same time and so ‘Second Love’ was born.

All of my engravings are hand engraved by me, based on my own sketches and designs. The majority of my items are inspired by two themes, The first is nature, flowers and the sea in particular. The second is Art Deco inspired designs, driven by my love of vintage objects and a wonderful contrast to the free flowing nature engravings.

I’ll also have earrings for sale, made from a mixture of new and repurposed materials.

If you live in Ceredigion, I can also be found at the occasional craft fair in and around Aberystwyth, displaying my engraved wares.
