The local timbers I use are the star of the show, I am a wood nerd!

I have been making furniture pieces for over 40 years now and could probably blame my secondary school woodworking teacher for this.
I studied 3D Design at Wolverhampton Polytechnic in the late 80's and had several jobs before ending up at a boatyard on an island in Venice. When I returned I worked for Benchmark Wodworking which was founded by Terence Conran at a time his empire was expanding. I learned so much from this experience and although this was back in the nineties I still keep in touch.
After moving to Northamptonshire I took the plunge and set up Plank Design in 2002, initially helping schools with Art's status, and making gallery spaces for them. I took on a workshop space and began making more furniture and lighting and continue with this today.
I was once told to always 'keep your eyes open' and use this mantra for inspiration. I think it is all around us, nature, architecture and people are my best resource. The materials I use also inspire me and sometimes can lead me in a new direction, every day is aschool day!
