Unique design woven by hand

I am fortunate to live near the sea in the West of Cornwall where I design and create handwoven textiles. I am grateful that I attended art college where I took a foundation course and gained a degree in Fine Art many years ago. I subsequently taught textiles, art and music and worked as a musician and composer. I fell in love with weaving after purchasing a rigid-heddle loom and since then I have acquired a couple of table looms and the latest addition - an 8 shaft floor loom. I also spin and dye some of my own yarns. My work can be seen at the Penwith Gallery shop, St Ives, Cornwall.

I am fascinated by the weave structure of double weave pick-up with its unique possibilities for interplay between two layers of varying colours. As a musician and composer I find many parallels with weaving - in texture form and in the rhythm of the process of weaving in which coloured threads flow from the shuttle like notes.
