I’m James aka Tom’s Dad, as a lot of you properly know once you have children your identity becomes slightly lost and you morph into this being that more often than not, only gets recognised by association with your children. I am happy to accept that so hence its “Crafted by Tom’s Dad”

I have spent the majority of my working life (33+yrs) in construction mainly as a carpenter. I have developed lots of other skills over the years that have allowed me to grow as a person. I am now at a point where the hard physical grind, long hours and our great British weather has encouraged me to take my occasional pastimes to the next level and develop those skills along with some new ones into a creative venture that keeps me more indoors, dryer and warmer.

I like working with my hands, using my imagination, other designs and ideas to create my own work. I try not to make too many things that are the same, I prefer to add small variations, such as size, colour, type of material or layout to make each piece a unique hand-crafted object that is either practical or decorative. I like to be provocative, to challenge, to be fun, designing things that stand out and grab people’s attention.

Like my work space my mind is a jumbled mess that generally works well and good things can and do appear from. One of my favourite quotes comes form Sir Henry Solomon Welcome
