Applying a little flair and magic to metal, glass and enamel

Hello and welcome! I describe myself as a crafty butterfly and have honing my skills as a metalsmith since I started out making jewellery in 2009. Why a crafty butterfly you might ask? well I'm interested in all things crafty and also paint and sew and like to try different and complimentary crafts that can be incorporated into my work, I enjoy most crafts so I often 'flit from craft to craft'.

My most recent foray has been into making fused glass cabachons, what I love particularly about working with glass and metal is that I can make every part of the piece of jewellery, incorporating vibrant colour from the glass with the copper or silver metals. The glass I use comes from offcuts and scraps from artisan cast glass and I don't waste a shard every bit of the glass I have gets used. The same goes for the metal I work with, I recycle my own silver and copper as well as buying recycled silver and even collect the dust from filing and sanding to reuse.

Most of my designs are one off pieces and I rarely start with a particular design in mind, I much prefer to just pick up whatever comes to hand and play around until I am happy with a design then make it.

My work is inspired by nature mostly and includes everything from the beach or woodland to the garden and night sky and have a particular fondness for butterflies, which you will see a lot of in my work.

I enjoy a challenge and am happy to consider commissions.
