Making prints and paintings inspired by landscape and nature

Hi - I'm Jem.

Sometimes I paint, sometimes I print.

I studied at the Colchester School of Art where I specialised in Fine Art but also became interested in printmaking and was taught various techniques.

Since becoming a full-time Artist 10 years ago I divide my time between painting and printmaking in my home studio.
I'm lucky to be surrounded by such an inspiring landscape - the Stour Valley on the Essex/Suffolk border, an area that looks wonderful at any time of the year. This landscape often influences my work.
I also have a keen interest in nature. While I'm out walking by the local river I sketch and take photos of the various wading birds, especially during the autumn/winter months.

Here on my Folksy Shop you will find a selection of my prints and paintings.
I specialise mostly in linocut printing which includes the reduction method.
Although I do like to experiment and mix up different printmaking methods to try and make something a bit different.

Paintings are oil on stretched canvas or canvas board (specified in the listing).
