A bit about me ....As a child I would copy pictures from all sorts of books from wildlife to fairy tales. I loved how a blank page could be transformed with imagination and simple tools. That's how it all started and then grew with studying art and textiles at school. I always seem to have been crafting one way or another, and have done candle making, glass painting, cross stitch, decoupage, and many more. I like anything where I can be creative, and am a bit like a Magpie for picking up shiny, organic treasures whether that's from a craft shop, a walk in the woods or beach combing and then integrating them into art in some form. Over the years I've focused more on card and paper crafts. I love receiving old fashioned post, a beautiful card, something someone has chosen to send that has meaning and thought. I wanted to create unique cards that reflected my love of nature, that would be something special people could enjoy not only receiving but also sending. In the age of technology, where it's easy to send a text or message , something has been lost. I have a pen friend and we have been writing to each other for over 40 years (now I sound old !), and with time the letters have dwindled with the dawn of technological advances like email, and I miss the anticipation of receiving a letter and hearing her news. We still make the effort to write the old fashioned way for Christmas, Easter and Birthdays. So I treasure these moments and that's why I make cards that bring a smile, joy and help connect people. I think handcrafted cards and gifts can have great meaning to people who receive them, for example one friend has a "treasure box" where she keeps such cards.
Another thing I also enjoy is the tactile feel of working with clay and find it very relaxing to create small decorations, gift tags and trinkets that I even manage to add onto a card, to create a two in one gift.
My inspiration comes from many sources, I'm fortunate to live in a beautiful area and love being outdoors and at the coast. I need to get a shot of nature and the sea every day if I can (depending on the strength of the wind!). I think there's something special about handmade creations, they are so unique, made with love and care and pride. I thought it was about time I sell online and share my creations ! I hope they bring a smile to peoples faces, and help us all to stay in touch by the gift of a card or craft.
