Hi, I am Tim Ashby and Welcome to Ashby Design Workshop’s Folksy Store.

Here you can find:-

* My handmade clocks in beautiful timbers which I have been making since 1982 (alongside my many other woodwork and design projects).
* (To be confirmed) - Woodworking ‘PlanPacks’ in pdf format featuring designs that can be built by yourself as a DIY Woodworking Enthusiast or can be passed onto a craftsman to build to commission.
* Occasional items of furniture.

I have had a passion for makIng and designing since aero-modelling days in childhood, metalwork and technical drawing at school, an Arts Foundation course in Weston-Super-Mare in 1975 where I gravitated towards 3D sculpture and pottery instead of painting, and a BA Hons course in Brighton in Wood/Metal/Ceramics/Plastics where I specialised in wood from 1975-78.

In 1979, I joined my retired architect father (Peter Ashby) in our woodworking workshop in Frome, Somerset, and had a wonderful 12 years working and learning with him until he passed in 1990. We established ‘Ashby Design Workshop’ in 1981 and created a Woodworking Plans Service offering Furniture Plans and Clock Plans to woodworking enthusiasts.

Since becoming a professional designer-craftsman in 1979, I have had extensive experience in design-and-commission and original woodworking, antique restoration, a specialisation in new and ancient clocks, 2D design on drawing boards using tracing paper and technical pens (!), and computer-based design, graphics and illustration since the 1990s.

My Wall Clocks are designed to be enjoyed as you would a painting and are available from stock or to commission.
