Fused Glass and mixed media artist that started very late in life

I'm a fused glass and mixed media artist who embarked on my artistic journey later in life, using fused glass as a therapeutic outlet during a challenging period. My transition from a demanding role at the Newcastle-upon-Tyne NHS Hospital trust to pursuing a BA(Hons) in Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland, based at the National Glass Centre, at 61. I achieved a first-class degree and furthered my studies with an MA in Visual Practice Glass at the NGC Sunderland at 65.
Despite starting with a modest 15cm x 15cm kiln at home, dedication to my craft was evident as I upgraded to a larger 30cm x 30cm kiln during the 2020 lockdown to complete my BA assignments.
I work mainly with Bullseye Glass powders for my work and am constantly looking for new ways to fuse glass. This results in my artwork styles being varied. These can be delicate flowers and botanical bowls or intricate tapestry forms. My finished pieces can be both abstract, opaque, or translucent. Delicate or strong, feather-light, or substantial. Smooth or textured.
My work has been in many exhibitions online to a worldwide audience and in person at galleries such as the Shipley Gateshead, The World of Glass in St Helens, the National Glass Centre, and the Museum and Winer Gardens Sunderland.
