This painting was inspired by that exact idea. Often, especially in the ancient woodland copses of Sussex, I feel I could turn a corner and be in a whole new world. I like the idea – especially when I find a deer watching me (which is quite often in southern England).

Full description
New Beginnings is an original oil painting in an ethereal semi-abstract style of a roebuck deer in a woodland glade. It is 36x36x1.5inches. The painting is vibrant and multi-coloured and hints at trees and leaves and dappled light in a spring forest. The roebuck is only half formed and it watching the viewer haughtily as roe deer tend to. Three shapes towards the centre of the canvas form tenuous portals or openings that could lead elsewhere. This painting was inspired by that exact idea. Often, especially in the ancient woodland copses of Sussex, I feel I could turn a corner and be in a whole new world. I like the idea – especially when I find a deer watching me (which is quite often in southern England). Anyone who walks in woodland will know the thrill of looking out from the trees to a clearing or a path beyond and that is the wonder of woodland and possibly one of the reasons so many fairy stories and folklore are founded in forests. Painted on deep edge canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed and comes with certificate of authenticity.
