I engraved this little owl onto a piece of lemonwood using very sharp tools called spitstickers, scorpers and gravers. This method of printing dates back centuries to Thomas Bewick. Each tool produces a different mark on the block, because the wood is so hard it is possible to make very tiny detailed marks. Once the mark has been made it cannot be unmade, making this a beautiful but unforgiving process. I enlisted the help of The Evergreen Press to make an edition of thirty prints. I have numbered and signed each print. The copyright notice will not show up on your print.
