--

For many years creels have been the daily method of catching lobsters and crabs off our coasts by our fishermen. This wood which holds the creels together, has often survived years of numerous catches being hauled out of the salt water, have weathered storms and lain at the foot of our seas.

The creel ends are all unique pieces of artwork made from work I do to recycle the redundant lobster creels at the natural end of their long lives. The back of each piece of creel wood is marked by old nails, rope holes, marks made by sea creatures and from bumping on and off the fishing boats and the local harbour docks.

I love the shape and textures and the lives this wood has had.

My partner cleans and prepares the wood and then I paint them, apply found and made items and varnish them. My partner Jim drills the holes in the wood and threads them with cords so they are ready to hang on the wall.

No two are the same. They are all handmade and will last longer if handled carefully.

I really hope you enjoy them !
