Inspiration was the cotton lace blouse to use as yoke front and back: also pale blue rose devore fabric, matched up with pale blue and pale green fabrics.
I keep coordinating coloured fabrics in baskets, and when a new piece is added, it often gives the inspiration, such as the lace, which spurs me to start the garment.
I've been wanting to do a diamonds patched dress so the idea of using the lace blouse cut to a V yoke to gather patches from was inspiring.
The yoke frill and joining was a lot of detailed work. The diamond front of lace yoke was taken off the blouse and hand sewn on for strength and design.

Full description
Pretty 'floaty' loose fit sundress in diamond patchworks gathered from lace yoke. Colours, white, pale blue, pale jade (like abalone shells) and black highlights. Wear as long top or short mini dress. Fits below hips.
Multi size bust 34 to 42 inches due to gathers above bust from yoke and diamond stretch. Length shoulder to hem 31inches.
Diamond patches are cut on the cross grain, so the dress stretches and flares well, with an 80 inch hem circumference.
Suitable as maternity dress due to expandable diamonds width.
Textiles used:
Cotton lace front V-yoke with zig-zag flap over gathers, back round yoke with 2 buttons,
Pale teal chiffon plain,
Prints of dot circles on pale jade cotton,
Off white viscose with lilac and teal butterflies and floral outlines,
White/pale jade oriental print on black polyester,
Blue rose devore on white textured cotton.
