Formerly 'Buttons, Beads and Blanket Stitch'.
My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.
Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.
* I endeavour to represent my pieces as clearly and with colours as true to life as possible, however some slight variations in tone between the image on screen and the piece itself may occur.*
My suburban garden with its seasonal changes is a constant inspiration for my work and a calendar of sorts, showcasing its variety and changes is an idea I had been working on for a while.
Rather than a piece to change at the end of the year as with a traditional calendar, I liked the idea of the print as a perpetual reminder of the garden’s year-round beauty.

This print, depicting aspects of my suburban garden throughout the year is, to date, the largest I have made.
The print acts as a perpetual calendar, with no dates, just the name of each month paired with a pertinent image to represent what can be seen in the garden at that time. The name of the print, my signature and a decorative border are all carved and printed as part of the image and included with the print is an identification list of the months, paired with the relevant plant name.
Over the course of the summer using my own sketches and reference photos, my design was drawn onto a traditional hessian backed lino and slowly carved. The finished lino was then printed onto a lovely off-white Japanese HoSho paper, measuring approx. 28cm x 39.5cm.
Each of this small edition of just 10 is printed in a mid-green ink. Each print is numbered and signed and having been printed by hand, slight variations from print to print will occur; such is the beauty of a unique, hand-crafted piece.
Your print will be posted to you wrapped in tissue and rolled within a cardboard tube. On its arrival, remove the print from the tube and allow it time to unfurl. (Lying the print on a flat surface under a heavy book may help to speed up the flattening process – do not be tempted to roll the print in the opposite way as this will almost certainly result in creasing and possibly damaging the print).
Please note that the frame is not included - the listing is for the print only.
