Amethyst (purple quartz) is the birthstone for Aquarius and February, and the stone for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
Amethyst is also associated with St Valentine.
It was believed he wore an amethyst ring engraved with a cupid to enable young soldiers to recognise him.
Emperor Claudius 11, believing married men made bad soldiers, had forbidden soldiers to wed, but Valentine would conduct secret marriage ceremonies.

Full description
Eye catching silver and purple necklace of (approximately)10x7mm rough cut lilac Amethyst ovals set with 4.5mm AA faceted Amethysts, 5.5mm Tibetan silver flowers and tiny 1.8mm sterling silver spacers.
The necklace then graduates to A grade, 4mm deep purple Amethyst round beads, further embellished with Tibetan silver flowers, and fastens with a Tibetan silver rose toggle clasp.
The translucent lilac Amethyst ovals are of slightly different shapes and sizes, are a lighter shade than the other Amethyst beads, with some irregularities and inclusions.
The AA grade faceted beads are a deeper purple, with a subtle sparkle when they catch the light.
The Tibetan silver flowers and clasp are nickel and lead free.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon, UK, this pretty mecklace would make a lovely February birthday present, 6th anniversary gift, as a Valentine's or Mother's Day gift, or simply as a treat for yourself.
This necklace measures approximately 17.25 inches (44cm), but most of my necklaces can be altered, just contact me via the button below my shop banner.
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
