Full description
You may have seen some of our other framed flowers online or at one of the fairs we attend. This one is a little different as the flower is multi-coloured.
This example of our framed flowers is constructed of a layer of cream leaves and a layer of dark green leaves, topped with an sparkley centre. The flower is fused to a blue coaster.
It is mounted on board and bordered with coloured & twisted cord. The piece is then mounted in a 20 x 20 cm box frame which is approximately 3.5 cm deep.
The first stage in making this piece is to prepare the coaster, which is a piece of blue art glass capped by clear glass. This is heated to around 800C to fuse it together. We then hand-cut the 6 pieces of dark green glass and 6 pieces of streaky green glass that make the flower, lay them out on the coaster and add a pre-fused glass dot to make the centre. The whole lot is put back in the kiln and heated to a slightly lower temperature which allows the flower to retain a 3D texture.
This grey frame will hang on a wall or will stand on a mantlepiece or window ledge.
All of our Fused Glass Goodies are hand-made at our home studio in Shropshire.
