I've long known that Hares were other worldly and sacred. When I was 10 years old I lived for a year on my Grandparents farm and saw their wholesale slaughter of hares and other wildlife at harvest time, and I knew, deep in my 10 year old bones, this was a sacrilege. I refused point black to eat the Hare pie my Grandmother then cooked. This probably started my questioning of "rural traditions" which has lead to my becoming a vegan. Hares used to be plentiful, but thanks to modern grain farming methods, they are not so widespread as they should be. I shall be putting one on my tree to remind me to speak up for Hares. We need the sacred in our lives. She is Oestre's totem, the original Easter "Bunny".

Full description
A hand made and hand painted, high fired, porcelain running Hare, with a strong green waxed cotton loop to hang it from. The Hare measures 8cm x 6.5cm, not including the loop. Because it is high fired, this decoration makes a lovely tinkling sound when it taps another, but is also very durable. As they are hand painted, no two are the same.
These are also available as brooches for £20. The photo with 2 Hares one of which doesn't have a coloured loop is a decoration with a brooch beside it.
