Alder Meditation Bowl: "Inviting Awen"
A delightful tactile, hand-carved bowl from richly coloured alder wood.
This piece has a lovely texture and feel in the hands.
Some inner bark remains on one edge.
The bowl rests at an angle, making it easy to gaze at the central design.
Size: 5.75" x 5.5" x 2.5" (14.5cm x 14cm x 6.5cm)
Excellent for working with as an offering dish, for meditation, for working with the Tree Spirit and for magical workings.
Around the centre there runs a row of the 32 runes of the Anglo-Saxon runes, each one representing an aspect of universal energy.
This can be used for divination or assessment - simply hold in mind your intention and then lightly trace across the runes. Active, helpful or explanatory runes will feel in some way different.
These rune shapes can then be held in mind to activate their energy patterns. The rune shapes hold and define the energies they represent , so that there is no need to 'interpret' meaning.
Alder is a tree associated with water, life-force and the flow of intuitive and bardic speech.
The designs on this bowl both activate the qualities and attention of the Alder Tree Spirit and the meditative contemplation of subtle levels of communication.
Awen is the Welsh bardic term for inspiration ( divine or mundane). On a spiritual level awen is the flow of the finest level of awareness, consciousness and language into the mind from cosmic and Otherworldly sources.
