Full description

Beech Goddess Bowl: "Before the Holy Doors"

A heavily spalted bowl of beech wood. The swirling light and dark patterns created by fungal growth are a fitting metaphor for exploring the energies of transformation, Life and Death.

A solid tool for investigation and meditation.

Size: 4.25" x 4" (11cm x 10cm)

Excellent for working with as an offering bowl, for meditation, for working with the Dark Goddesses.

Symbolic design that helps to access the paths and levels of the Otherworlds, particularly The Land of the Dead.

The rune text is taken from the Poetic Edda, stanza 22 of the Grimnismal:

VALGRIND HEITIR,

ER STENDR VELLI A

HEILOG FYR HELGOM DVROM;

FORN ER SV GRIND,

ENN THAT FAIR VITO,

HVE HON ERI LAS VM LOKIN.

"She is called The Gate of Choice

standing on the plain.

holy she is, before the holy doors.

Ancient is that gate

and few know

how she is closed and locked.",

The goddess is the Goddess of the ultimate boundary, Hel, the Goddess of one of the Norse Afterworlds.

Like most Dark Goddesses, they are often associated with negative and fearful characteristics, much influenced by the later Christian ideas of Death and Hell.

Holding the vessel in a meditative and calm way will have a positive and balancing effect.

A unique piece for meditation, relaxation and bringing unity.
