This retro styled pendant features a statement piece of vintage fordite smoothly bezel set in sterling silver. The pendant is diamond shaped and has an open backed setting allowing both sides for the fordite to be seen, the front has a complicated pattern of swirls and bulls eyes in a multitude of colours including tan brown, orange, yellow, blue and white whilst the back has a much simpler camo like pattern in shades of brown and cream. The pendant is an attention grabbing 58mm (inc bail) by 30mm wide, the bail is big enough that you could easily remove it from the silver snake chain it comes with and pop it onto a ribbon or cord if you wanted to. Comes gift boxed.
If you've not come across fordite before it is a little bit of automotive history being made up of many layers of paint which accumulated on the rails in spray booths as vehicles were painted. It was baked hard inbetween each coat to give a durable material that can be cut and polished. As fashions changed so did the colours in fordite so with a bit of research it is possible to work out which factory it came from and approximately when. I believe this material has come from Ford's Dearborn plant, where they made mustangs, in the late 70's. I cut this material myself and have a very, very limited stash of the rough left so if you want something else drop me a message I might be able to help you out.
