I’ve always been drawn to tribal or collar style necklaces, and I have a particular fascination for African tribal culture and costume. These long gemstone beads were just the thing to create such a look because they are top drilled which meant I could create a collar style necklace which hang well. Natural gemstones are very often ‘earthy’ tones and for me that conjures up a celebration of landscapes and natural diversity amongst people and the land. I just love this piece, and I will be making similar style necklaces in the future.

This is a substantial mixed gemstone collar necklace made with white magnesite, green Aventurine, orange Aventurine, and golden rutile gemstones. It has a collection of no less than 35 large chip top drilled stones which hang freely from the neckline and is a real gemstone lover’s piece. These top quality long chips are hard to come by and vary in size from 1-2.5cm in length and the colour combination makes a fantastic statement necklace. To add even more charm, each set of 5 gemstones is separated by 2 Indonesian antique sterling silver plated flower beads and the whole piece is finished in sterling silver plated curb chain, toggle clasp and bar. Whether you are interested in gemstones aesthetically or otherwise, this is a substantial necklace with a good weight and coverage which drops down approximately 7cm from the throat and will grace any neckline with style and originality.
