I saw the polystyrene head in a shop and was immediately hooked. 'I can make that into a thing of beauty,' I thought, and Gaia is the first of five mosaicked heads I made.

Full description
This mosaicked head was originally a plain polystyrene wig/hat stand.
Her name is Gaia. She can display jewellery or just look around the room, or out of the window and surprise passersby.
I carved the features and applied Winckelmann matt tiles, glossy tiles, semi-precious stones and beads. The artificial eyes and eyelashes were the finishing touches.
She is on a rotating base and stands 42cm tall.
