Australian boulder opal wood fossils or wood replacement Opals are fascinating Specimans where the organic materials or wood has been replaced by silica, the process occurs when the silica rich water seeps into the voids left by decaying branches or Tree roots over time the silica solidifies preserving the intricate internal structures of wood within the opal. These fossils are unique because they retain the detailed internal patterns of wood, creating a mesmerising and beautiful inner world visible through the Opal. Colours range from Brown to bone or ivory along with opal colours & in some cases you may find pure crystal Opal branches or roots within the fossil in opal Colours.
