Andamooka is a small town in South Australia with a fascinating history, it was first sighted by Scottish explorer John McDouall Stuart in 1858 and a Pastural lease was established in 1872 ,John McDoual Stuart later immigrated to Australia. The Town itself began to develop in the 1930s after the discovery of Opal in the area.Miners flocked to Adamooka & the township was officially established. 2 modern day miners Rod & JC feature in the TV series outback Opal Hunters operate in Adamooka along with The Missfits & The Mooka Boys they are known for their persistance & determination in harsh outback conditions, Adamooka matrixopal is Amongst their opal discoveries just like the ones I Bring to you today known for its unique play of colour within the host rock often limestone then treated which showcases vivid & Bright sparks of precious opal.
