Full description

A handsome kingfisher has been needle felted using woollen fibres and a barbed felting needle. The fibres are bound together and sculpted into shape using a needle felting technique. The initial shape has been made using white core wool and then a top coat of blue and orange merino wool fibres added with appropriate markings around the head. The legs are formed from wool wrapped wire, the eyes are beaded and a beak made from silk clay has been added.

The kingfisher has been mounted on a perch, also needle felted with a rustic wooden base. The kingfisher is roughly life sized with the ornament as a whole measuring approximately 21cm tall.

Please note: this is a collectable ornament. It is not intended as a toy. It contains wire and small parts that could cause a hazard to small children.
