There are beautiful fairytales across all cultures, with many having similar origins. Although often cautionary and sometimes scary tales, they have now evolved into lovely stories to tell children, and can form the basis of many hours of imaginative play fun.
My playmats initially started as little fold up travel toys, with pockets to hold little models or cars. At customers request I started making them bigger - I now also do 50cm play scenes with or without pockets, and these 1m square scenes that double up as floor playmats or little quilts.
This is a custom-made item and cannot be returned unless faulty.

Full description
One of my larger playmats, customised around your child's favourite fairytales or folk stories. Ideal for parent and child story time at any age, my play scenes are also perfect for older children to create their own imaginative games with their own model toys.
All my playmats are fully tested against EN71 toy safety regulations as safe from birth, and bear the UKCA / CE mark.
I design my fairy-tale scenes around traditional stories and tales that have common roots across cultures. I can research any story to develop a scene to meet your brief, and also personalise it with special motifs or a child's name. The mat can also be made with loops so it can be hung on the wall.
The images shown are an example - the playmat was designed around a tall tower, a little cottage and some woodland animals to allow a number of stories to be played out, including ones invented by the child. The colours of the little rabbits were based on the child's own pets.
Beautifully made quality quilting cotton fabrics, the play scenes have lots of appliqued detail, using a range of hand and machine embroidery techniques. Pure wool felt is used for some applique. The quilt is interlined with bamboo or wool wadding and backed with a cotton print that complements the theme.
Size: approx 1 metre square
Care: machine wash at 30, gentle tumble or dry flat.
