It was inspired by the woodlands around my home. I am always drawn to trees and the textures of the bark, the colours and shapes of the leaves and pattern of their roots pushing into the earth.

Full description
Root System is a one of a kind, mounted tapestry weaving which has been handwoven with a mixture of cotton, silk, mohair and wools, including some of my hand spun wool. It is woven in various shades of brown, green, grey and shades of cream and white on a cotton warp in green and brown. I have used eccentric weave and random weave techniques to create texture and pattern and I have added extra warps or supplemental warps, and woven them to create the roots and then interlaced them. It is stitched onto a piece of felt covered mdf which measures 28 x 37 x 2cm and hangs from d rings with twine.13.5 x 18cm and the length including the longest of the roots is 32cm. It hangs with a single d ring.
It will be well wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap, boxed and posted by Royal Mail with a tracked service. I refund any overpaid postage as it is not possible to list all of the different costs for the various worldwide countries. Where possible I reuse packaging to reduce cost to the customer and to the environment.
