Full description

A woodpecker sculpted from woollen fibres. The woodpecker has been designed to hang on a wall as a decorative item bound to initiate conversation. This woodpecker has been made using a needle felting process whereby woollen fibres are bound together and sculpted into shape using a barbed felting needle. The basic shape is formed using core wool and then a top coat in appropriate colours added. The beak has been made from an air dry clay and black acrylic half pearls form the eyes. Wool wrapped wire with a wax coating has been used to create the legs and feet. The woodpecker has been mounted on a rustic oval wooden slice by means of a clear acrylic rod. A hanging loop has been attached to the reverse of the slice to facilitate hanging of the woodpecker.

The woodpecker is approximately 22cm (9") tall

Not suitable for outdoor display.

A perfect gift for bird lovers and ornothologists, gardeners and nature lovers.
