One of the widely recognised alternatives to Emerald as a birthstone for May is Green Onyx.
Onyx is a form of Chalcedony, and Green Onyx is the trade name for Chalcedony that has been dyed a deep, rich, emerald-green colour.
Green Onyx is linked to the heart chakra.
Tiger's Eye (also called Tiger's-Eye, Tiger Eye, Tigers Eye or Tiger Iron) is a popular member of the Quartz family that is usually amber to golden-brown, with a silky lustre, and displays 'chatoyancy', or 'cat's eye'- the characteristic vertical flash when it catches the light.
In ancient Egypt, the stone was believed to be all-seeing, and was used for the eyes of deities.
Roman soldiers wore it in battle in the belief it would give them the courage and strength of a tiger.
It is still regarded as a stone of courage, strength and vitality.

Striking necklace in Earth tones of golden brown and emerald green.
A centrepiece of 4mm round and 6x8mm Tiger's Eye drum beads, separated by 3mm faceted Green Onyx for a subtle glint.
To either side, 6mm Green Onyx set with 6x4mm Tiger Eye rondelles give way to alternating 4mm Green Onyx and Tigers Eye round beads.
The piece fastens with a Tibetan style golden rose toggle clasp that is nickel and lead free.
This necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm).
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag
