A very warm welcome to Elflock Woolworks at Waney Grain. I'm Karen and I'm a free-style experimental knitter working with luxurious yarns that feel silky-soft against the skin.My husband, Nick, is a woodturner and he is the Waney Grain side of this Folksy shop.
Nick says: My work has been inspired by my wife, Karen, who was the first to show me the wonderful possibilities of waney edged wood in a dining and eating context. As a real foodie, Karen could see dramatic, organic, textured and visually appealing waney-edged wood as a fascinating, eye-catching and inspiring food server. Her enthusiasm was infectious! Since then, our pieces have become the product of our imaginations and our evolving craftsmanship. We continue to inspire each other.
Our companion sets, that comprise two, three or four pieces, are created with celebrations, parties and family gathering in mind. They are carefully cut to sit together, but are finished so that each component can be used as a stand alone board.
These beautiful sets make a lavish and luxurious table-centre and we love their dramatic 'showstopper' effect,

Full description
This listing is for a dramatic pair of pippy oak cheeseboards.
The approximate footprint for these boards, sitting side-by-side is:
L: 24 inches
W: 13.75 inches
H: 1.5"
Crafted by Nick Titmus at Waney Grain Artisan Woodworks in Nottingham. Nick creates beautiful waney-edged cheese boards, table centres and conversation pieces from native English hardwood, including companion sets, pairs, ternions and stacking boards.
Nick has created this beautiful pair of geometric-cut cheeseboard from locally sourced and very well figured English Pippy Oak. He has cut these boards to maximise the dramatic cat's paw knots, and despite having to remove one corner to protect the integrity of the wood, the overall effect is simply superb. These boards have been finished with Chestnut Food Safe Oil. They look wonderful side-by-side, staggered, in a W formation or as stand alones.
To care for your boards, please do NOT immerse them in water. We advise that food is removed after use, then using a piece of slightly damp and well wrung out kitchen paper, the whole of each board is wiped. Wiping the whole board ensures that no patches of discolouration occur.. Your boards can be left to dry naturally. If there is any discolouration this can be easily removed with a light sanding and an application of food safe oil.
Please note that the tealights in our pictures are for display only and are not included with this board.
