Amethyst (purple quartz) is the birthstone for Aquarius and February, and the stone for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
Amethyst is also associated with St Valentine.
It was believed he wore an amethyst ring engraved with a cupid to enable young soldiers to recognise him.
Emperor Claudius 11, believing married men made bad soldiers, had forbidden soldiers to wed, but Valentine would conduct secret marriage ceremonies.

Full description
Each earring features a 10mm Swarovski heart topped with a 6mm Sage Amethyst and a trio of sparkly faceted glass beads.
The Swarovski hearts are in the colour 'light amethyst', with a coating on the reverse to enhance the sparkle.
The Sage Amethyst beads are a dark purple with mottled grey-green overtones that are complemented by the faceted glass beads, which have a lovely rainbow sparkle of purples and greens.
The beads are hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
These sparkly earrings measure approximately 1.5 inches (4cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
