Full description

This elongated pendant has a monochrome piece of fordite which has been bezel set in sterling silver and finished with a generously sized simple loop bail. The fordite has a swirly pattern in shades of dark grey, silver, black and white with just a little red and blue. Some of the layers are sparkly to really elevate the pattern. The colour palette is fairly unisex so this would suit anyone, it come with an 18 inch silver chain but could easily be switched to a leather cord or a chunkier chain (drop me a message if you want me to check that it will fit on a chain you already have or if you want me to sort out a leather cord for it to go on). The pendant measures approx 70mm (inc bail) by 16mm wide.

Fordite is layers of cured paint that built up in the spray booths at vehicle factories, careful cutting and polishing can show up the many coloured layers. One of my stone cutting friends managed to get a small amount of rough from a Ford factory in the UK when they were making transit vans in 2021 - this fordite is particularly rare and hard to get. The method for painting vehicles has changed so rough fordite is only formed in small quantities and is increasingly difficult to get hold of so if you are a fan of cars (or looking for a gift for a petrol head) I'd get some quick.
