Full description
This handsome barn owl has been made using both needle felting and wet felting techniques. The main body has been needle felted using woollen fibres which have been sculpted into shape using a barbed felting needle to bind the fibres together. It is made using a core of white wool with woollen fibres in appropriate colours added as a top coat. The wings and tail have been made from hand made wet felted sheets of felt. Each feather and the leading edge of the wings have been wired allowing the wings to be gently posed. The owl has a beak made from silk clay, the feet are wool wrapped wire and black acrylic half pearls have been used for the eyes. The owl has been posed in flight and is mounted on a rustic wooden base by means of two clear acrylic rods.
This barn owl ornament measures approximately 25cm tall (to top of head, base included) and has an overall wing span of 48cm.
Please note: this barn owl is intended as a collectable or ornament. It is not suitable as a toy for children due to small parts and possible loose fibres.
