Jenny inspired me to make this through her regular pilgrimages to the battlefields. I wanted to recognise that dedication and make a tribute to her during her last months fighting cancer. She sadly died at the end of October 2023, so the cost of this piece will be donated to Cancer Research in her memory.

Full description

Inspired by Jenny, a family friend who regularly made the pilgrimage to the battlefields of Ypres and the Somme, this piece combines both glass fusion and stained glass painting to create this decorative arch.

Hand-cut coloured art glass was fused to a double layer clear base. The outline of the drawing was hand painted and then fired overnight. Once cooled, a paint wash was applied. This wash was then gently scratched and brushed away in places, allowing me to paint with the light to create the shading and depth to the images. A final 3rd firing overnight then fixed the paint and shaped the flat piece into an arch. You can see a video of the making process on my Instagram and TikTok pages.

Due to the stained glass design, this piece is beautiful with a light source behind it and intended for display on a window sill.

It measures 19.5cm across by 14cm high and approximately 6cm deep.

Postage is included within the UK by Royal Mail 2nd class untracked.

Please note, all proceeds from the sale of this item will go to Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of Jenny who sadly died at the end of October 2023. MCS provided invaluable support to both Jenny and her family during her illness. Proof of donation will be shared with the buyer.
