I decided to try putting a flame effect bulb inside a chainsaw cylinder to see how it looked and I am very pleased with the result! It gives a really subtle low level effect that draws you in to look closer.

Full description
A used chainsaw engine cylinder, from a well-known and respected German manufacturer, mounted onto a reclaimed wood base. The cylinder, from a commercial grade heavy duty chainsaw, has been thoroughly cleaned and degreased before being mounted onto a (sanded and beeswax polished) salvaged wood base. I have fitted a black resin SES lampholder into the wooden base to hold a 3-Watt LED flame effect candle bulb inside the cylinder; the flickering red-orange light reflects beautifully from the polished bore of the cylinder and out through the ports and spark plug hole. Two metres of new, unobtrusive black, flex fitted with black inline switch and 3-amp fused plug complete the lamp. A unique and decorative lamp that would create interest and atmosphere anywhere.
