Aventurine is a form of Chalcedony Quartz containing grains of colour-imparting minerals.
It is most commonly found in green, but also in orange, yellow, brown, and, as in this case, blue.
The blue colour comes from inclusions of the mineral dumortierite.
Other well known forms of Chalcedony Quartz are Agate, Carnelian and Onyx.

Full description
Pretty, sparkly blue necklace featuring a 13x18mm Blue Aventurine teardrop set between trios of Swarovski 'capri blue' 4mm and 4mm bicones.
The necklace continues with 6mm blue Aventurine, embellished with more 4mm 'capri blue' Swarovski crystals.
The Swarovski crystals are highlighted with tiny 2mm sterling silver rounds which accentuate the colour and sparkle.
The necklace is completed using 4mm blue Aventurine and 4mm White Jade (Dolomite marble), and fastens with a Tibetan silver toggle clasp i the shape of a rose.
The clasp is nickel and lead free.
These opaque blue Aventurine beads are in shades of smoky blue that blend well with the royal blue crystals and shiny silver.
The teardrop pendant is a slightly paler hue, and has a natural fine crack to the right of centre (see photos).
It is common for semi-precious stones to have natural flaws, but the price reflects such imperfections.
This necklace measures approximately 16 inches (41cm).
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
