I have always been drawn to the sea and the sky, and I take inspiration from the beauty of the coast for my work. This piece was inspired by a a beautiful sunset I watched on the Welsh coast. I wanted to capture the serenity of the moment as the peachy-golden rays of the sun slipped below the horizon and the sea grew darker.

Handmade felt brooch in oranges and greys illustrating a soft sunset above the sea. This fibre art piece is one of a kind and is made from wool tops and strands of fine wool yarn using the wet felting technique.
Like many of my pieces, this beautiful brooch began with one of the photos I take whenever something catches my eye or inspires me. First I use a watercolour sketch to capture the tones of the image, and then I turn to my baskets of wool tops, silks and yarn to create a unique piece of textile and fibre art that evokes the emotions of that original scene. This brooch represents the sunset over a Welsh beach in shades of peach, apricot, orange and grey, with a hint of warm pink.
Wearable art makes an original and interesting gift for artists, crafters, makers and art lovers. A handmade brooch is the perfect accessory to pin on a denim jacket or a shirt, or to hold a scarf or shawl in place.
This unique brooch measures approximately 8cm/3.1inches across at its widest point. It is backed with a brooch pin to hold it securely in place.
