Full description
Using the Optic Topics method created by Judith Conway and Kevin O'Toole, this glass piece has been made by layering fine string pieces of glass on a white base and topped with clear glass. It was fused to 800 degrees Celsius in a specialist glass kiln over 12 hours to allow the temperature to heat and cool at a rate which avoids thermal shock. Once the kiln had finished, a further 7 hours was required to cool to room temperature.
The cooled piece was drilled by hand and a quartz silent clock mechanism was fitted with chrome hands in a modern design. The final piece can be wall hung either as a square or diamond.
It measures approximately 16cm by 16.5cm.
