Seaside trips as a child impressed on me the noise of the sea rushing onto pebble beaches and their many colours and textures which the receding water seemed to make sparkle. I wish I knew more about geology so I could understand more of what I'm looking at. Though I couldn't bring home every pebble I was allowed to have those pebble-shaped sweets presented in a shell from seaside sweetshops! Happy memories, encapsulated in this warm, soft, squidgy scarf. I just wish I had better photography skills to bring out the colours!

Reflecting my fascination with the colours and textures of pebbles at the seaside, this hand-woven scarf has a slightly variable wavy edge, like the sea washing over the beach. It's a medium length scarf, 155cm long (around 61 inches) and an average of 19cm wide (around 7.5 inches). There's an element of my hand-spun Merino in this, alongside multiple materials ranging from a thick bobbly yarn to create the 'pebbles' to boucle, ribbon and acrylic yarns. The wavy edge is the result of differential shrinkage between the multiple materials. Wash carefully, low temperature, dry flat.The camera's internal set-up seems to home in on the whites/crams making it more difficult to render the contrasting browns properly.
