Item details

I first thought of making Jura when I was paddleboarding out of Carsaig Bay, Argyll. Turning left out of the bay gave me a clear and sunny view of The Paps of Jura (absolutely gorgeous).

I am very pleased with how this picture has turned out. The colours are rich and deep and with it being glass it shines as you pass by it.

Full description

COMPLETELY UNIQUE AND 100% HANDMADE IN GLASS.

From the maker: £37.00. From the gallery: £55.00

'ISLE OF JURA' is a subtle mix of Scottish colours. The actual isle has been very carefully painted using finely ground powdered glass. The foreground is cut shapes of streaky brown and caramel sheet glass. A tiny bit of bling has been added by scattering little sections of dichroic glass. Once the picture was completed it was then fused in my kiln at 1400 where all sections became one!

'ISLE OF JURA' took me approximately 2 hours to make. A lot of time was spent just stepping back from the picture to see how each piece of glass settled into the final composition.

I am pleased with the final picture. It has a kind of tranquil soft quality to it.

Wooden mount: 26cm width x 18cm height x 1cm thickness.

Picture: 19.7cm width x 13cm height x 6mm thickness (100% glass).
