I have used three different types of Pearl bead to make this necklace.
Potato Pearls are not-quite-round, and have surface irregularities. These ones have a silver-grey main colour, with overtones of iridescent "peacock" colours - hints of green, blue and pink-purple.
Baroque Pearls are non-symmetrical with surface irregularities. The ones I have used are a creamy-white colour with a lovely rainbow iridescence when they catch the light.
Shell Pearls are man-made using nacre, the same material that makes natural pearls, and are considered the best replicas you can get. The larger ones I have used here are a dusty lavender-pink, the smaller ones are a silver-grey colour. Both have a lovely sheen.
Pearls are thought to be a calming gem, and have long been associated with integrity, purity, loyalty and faith.
Pearl is the traditional birthstone for June and Gemini, the stone for the 30th wedding anniversary, and has been associated with love and marriage for thousands of years.

Beautiful Pearl necklace made from a mix of Pearls.
Freshwater silver-grey peacock potato Pearls in 6/7mm and 4/5mm sizes add a lovely shimmer of blue-green iridescence between 6mm lavender and 4mm silver-grey shell Pearls.
I have added a few creamy-white freshwater baroque Pearls that have a rainbow glint when they catch the light, and some 5mm Swarovski clear crystal bicones for added sparkle.
The overall effect is subtle but sumptuous.
I have finished the piece with an easy-to-fasten rose Tibetan-style silver toggle clasp that is nickel and lead free.
This elegant necklace measures approximately 16 inches (41cm)
