Formerly 'Buttons, Beads and Blanket Stitch'.

My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.

Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.

* I endeavour to represent my pieces as clearly and with colours as true to life as possible, however some slight variations in tone between the image on screen and the piece itself may occur.*

This print is a celebration of the time before the tulips in my garden bloomed, when the lush, verdant foliage was the star!

Full description

With tulips planted in the little tin bath for the very first time, we had no idea if or how many of the bulbs would come to fruition... In the meantime, the lush, green foliage was most definitely a winner and so had to be celebrated!

Sketches made and text and final layout decided upon, I transferred my design onto a traditional hessian backed lino which I then hand cut and burnished onto a beautiful Japanese Hosho paper.

The paper measures approx. 28cm x 39.5cm with the printed image itself measuring approx. 20cm x 30cm.

Each of this small edition of just 6 comprises a two-layer print, the first a rich base of green to emphasise the leaves, over which is printed the main image in black. Each of the prints is numbered, titled and signed.

Having been printed by hand, slight variations from print to print will occur; such is the beauty of a unique, hand-crafted piece.

Your print will be posted to you wrapped in tissue and rolled within a cardboard tube. On its arrival, remove the print from the tube and allow it time to unfurl. (Lying the print on a flat surface under a heavy book may help to speed up the flattening process – do not be tempted to roll the print in the opposite way as this will almost certainly result in creasing and possibly damaging the print).

Please note that the wooden hanger in the photograph is used for display purposes only.
