Rock crystal/ clear quartz is the modern alternative to diamond as the birthstone for Aries and April.
Rock crystal, also called clear quartz, is named from the Greek "krustallos" meaning "ice crystal" because it was thought to be ice that was frozen so hard it could not melt.
Aries is ruled by the planet Mars and the element fire, so I have set this beautifully cut pear-shaped AAA grade Quartz Crystal in hematite (associated with Mars) and embellished with Swarovski "Fire opal"and "black diamond" crystal bicones.

Full description
The centrepiece for this necklace is a beautiful, AAA crystal quartz, faceted, pear cut briolette measuring approximately 10mm x 12mm that glitters like the diamond it represents.
I have bracketed this gorgeous stone between two sparkly Swarovski 3mm ABx2 clear crystals, highlighted by tiny gold vermeil spacer beads.
I have used an assortment of shaped hematite beads for the body of the necklace, 6mm and 4mm rounds, 6mm and 4mm ovals and 13mm x 4mm tubes.
The hematite beads are set with pairs of 6mm and 4mm Swarovski crystals in a colour called "fire opal", each flanked by Swarovski "black diamond" 4mm bicones.
These add glitter to the shine of the hematite.
The necklace is fastened with a pretty Tibetan style toggle clasp in an antique gold finish.
This clasp is easy to fasten, and is nickel and lead free.
The necklace measures approximately 16 inches (41cm) and is designed to sit on the collar bone to be visible above the neckline of a standard T-shirt.
Presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
