Full description
Poppy Meadow is a beautiful handmade keepsake or jewellery box for your special treasures. Absolutely perfect for keeping jewellery items safe on a bedside table or as a unique and special gift.
The sides and base are made from a woven furnishing fabric in white, yellow and turquoise. This is a chunky weave, and the colour combination is truly beautiful.
The lid is made from a handmade textile panel made using various techniques. I've started with needle felting, building up the layers of colour to create a rich golden meadow. This has then been machine and then hand embroidered with grasses and seed heads, before some poppy flowers in french knots were added.
The box is fully lined in wool felt in co-ordinating colours. The sides and base are yellow felt, whilst the lid lining is red. The handmade nature of this item means it has a rustic, raw edge look, with pokey out threads and fuzzy edges. This is entirely deliberate and is not a fault. A vintage button and thread loop are used to fasten it securely.
This is a functional item but is not meant to withstand rough handling, so should be kept away from children and pets. The inner construction gives some rigidity, but it won’t survive being squashed. This box uses no plastic.
Approximately 6cm x 6cm x 6cm, although it’s not a perfect cube by any means.
