Full description
This fused glass sunflower has been made with three shades of yellow and amber transparent glass. Each of the forty petals have been hand-cut to be slightly different, as you would see in nature, and arranged around the central disc. This was separately made from two layers of light amber glass sprinkled with black and amber finely crushed glass to represent seeds, and then fused at a high temperature to make it smooth and glossy. The whole piece was then fused together at a lower temperature, so that although the edges of the petals are soft and rounded, there is still a degree of texture.
It is completely unique - no two pieces will ever be the same as I use slightly different shades of glass or vary the petal size and shape, just as real flowers are always slightly different.
The piece measures approximately 18cm across and would make a lovely gift. It can be hung on a wall, but looks particularly stunning displayed against a window where the sun can shine though it. As you can see from the photos, it will look different depending on where it is hung.The photos show it laid on a bright white board, hung on a magnolia wall, and in front of a window. It is supplied with a gold woven ribbon for hanging, and I will also supply some plastic bumpers to provide protection if hung against a wall/window.
I currently have a similar sunflower available, slightly larger, and fused to a lower temperature to maintain a little more texture to the petals.
